What is Microblading?
Microblading is a natural looking
semi-permanent manual process where
a one-time use tool and blade is used
to give the client additional “hair like” strokes in the eyebrow area. The pigment colour used is customized to your skin tone and type, and also existing hair colour. This is a 2 part process –
1st procedure appointment and a 2nd follow up appointment in 4-6 week to perfect your look. We include the
'follow up appointment in our full procedure cost.
Who might want Microblading:
- Victims of the 90’s and far too much access to tweezers and Drew Barrymore movies.
- People with Alopecia or hair loss due to Chemotherapy.
- Those looking to correct the resultsof over plucking.
- Those looking to reduce the time it takes in the morning to define their eyebrows.
- Those looking to thicken and give depth to existing brow.
- Define or tweak aspects of existing brow style.
- Cover up gaps in eyebrow due to natural hair loss or over plucking.
Microblading is NOT recommended
for anyone who is:
- Pregnant or nursing
- Undergoing Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
- Viral Infections
- A pacemaker or heart problems
- Had an organ transplant
- Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, cold sores etc.)
- Sick (cold, flu, etc.)
- Had Botox in the past 2 week
- Used Accutane in the past year.
- Taking blood thinners
How long does it last:
The colour retention and definition of each hair stroke lasts differently for each person. Skin types, hormones, beauty routines and personal care of the area all affect the longevity of the procedure. Typically, Microblading should last 1-2 years with proper care and maintenance.
As the results vary for each person, you may require a touch up/colour boost within the first year.
What to expect at your appointment: When you arrive for your appointment you can expect to have a good talk about your wants and needs from the process. Having an in depth discussion of your ideals is important to ensure the procedure is correctly tailored to you.
After your needs have been identified, Sinead will start the mapping process to make sure your new brow design is structurally correct for your face type and will compliment your natural look.
Once we’ve mapped out the overall goal, a topical anesthetic will be applied to make sure you’re comfortable during
While the anesthetic is doing its magic, Sinead will work with pigment colours and customize an option to suit you perfectly.
Once the anesthetic has been in place for the appropriate time and you’re in agreement with the pigment colour, we’ll get to giving you those beautiful eyebrows of your dreams!
When all hair stokes are completed, a final layer of pigment is applied over the entire brow area to allow for maximum colour absorption.
Finally, Sinead will carefully and gently clean up your brow area, sit you up and reveal your beautiful new eyebrows.
The whole process runs 2-3 hours with opportunities to sit up, stretch it out or check your phone throughout. You’re welcome to even bring ear buds and listen to music or your favourite podcast during the final step of the appointment.
Wait… Does this hurt?
The procedure is completely safe but everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Every effort is made to ensure you’re completely comfortable from start to finish. Most people report the process
as minimal to no discomfort.
After the procedure is completed: Immediately after the procedure your eyebrow area will likely be swollen and have a red hue similar to after a waxing procedure. The microbladed hair strokes will appear darker and bolder than they will be once healed – do NOT freak out! This is completely normal.
Over the next 1-2 weeks your brows
will be healing and you can expect changes to the intensity of the hair
stroke colour. Also, you should expect some of the brow area flaking off dead skin cells as the healing process unfolds.
Although everyone is different, at around the 1 month mark the pigments should
be totally settled into your skin and displaying the final results of the procedure.
Things to avoid during the 1-2 week healing period for optimal results:
- Increased sweating
- Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzis
- Sun tanning or salon tanning
- Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing RetinA or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck area
- Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
- Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
- Touching of the eyebrow area except for when applying the aftercare balm with a Q-tip
Sinead will discuss your immediate aftercare instructions in depth at your appointment. You’ll be provided an aftercare balm to assist in healing.
